VO4TA: Inflect

Friend of mine said once: “The only thing I ever learned in a private VO lesson was when saying a list of three things: say it like this - ‘One, TWO, three…’ ”

I suppose that’s fine.  It seems awfully mechanical and arbitrary to me, but okay.

Here’s something different about inflection.

(As always, I’m trying to talk about sound. Might get messy…)

You’re reading along and you get stuck. Say with a brand name like “Optimum Online” or something. It won’t come out. You trip on it.

The problem may not be the word itself - the problem just might be with the way you approach the word.

It can be good to reset your ear, your head and your tongue by choosing a different inflection of the words preceding the troubling word rather than just concentrating on the word itself.

Food for thought. Hard to write about though.

Try changing the approach to the runway so the take off is smoother (Another metaphor to talk about sound.)
